Allen Bari: WSOP Bracelet Winner With $2.9 Million in Live Earnings
POKER HALL OF FAME
Inducted 2014
Allen Bari emerged as a prominent American tournament professional during the late 2000s, building a résumé that includes a World Series of Poker bracelet, a WSOP Circuit ring and several major six-figure tournament scores. As of September 2026, Hendon Mob lists Bari with $2,905,680 in live tournament earnings and a career-best cash of $874,116.
Although his most recognizable achievement came in no-limit hold'em, Bari's poker background extended beyond one format. During the height of his professional career, he spoke openly about preferring cash games and mixed-game formats, even as his biggest tournament victories came in no-limit hold'em.
⠀
Who Is Allen Bari?
Allen Bari is an American poker player from New Jersey who became a professional after previously working in finance.
According to the World Series of Poker, Bari was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, attended Rutgers University and graduated with a background in finance and economics. He later worked on Wall Street, including employment with Morgan Stanley and AIG.
Poker had already been part of Bari's life before it became his profession. He told poker publications that he grew up playing stud games and began playing low-stakes online no-limit hold'em and underground cash games while attending college.
His career direction changed after he was laid off from the financial industry in late 2007. With tournament and cash-game results beginning to provide meaningful income, Bari moved toward playing poker full time.
⠀
Allen Bari's Early Poker Career
Hendon Mob records Bari's first live tournament cash in 2004 at Turning Stone Resort Casino in New York. His tournament résumé began expanding rapidly several years later.
The 2008 season became his first major breakthrough.
In March, Bari won a $1,000 no-limit hold'em event during the WSOP Circuit stop at Caesars Atlantic City. The tournament drew 225 entries, and Bari earned $72,000 along with his first WSOP Circuit ring.
That victory was followed by an even larger result in June. Bari won the $5,200 Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship in Atlantic City, topping a field of 399 entries and collecting $500,250.
His 2008 results also included an eighth-place finish in a World Poker Tour event at the Foxwoods Poker Classic and multiple cashes at the World Series of Poker.
The run established Bari as a successful tournament professional only months after leaving the finance industry.
⠀
2011 WSOP Bracelet Victory
Bari's defining tournament result came during the 2011 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
He won Event #4, a $5,000 no-limit hold'em tournament that attracted 865 entries. Bari defeated Maria Ho heads-up and earned $874,116, which remains the largest recorded live tournament cash of his career.
The victory also gave Bari his first WSOP bracelet.
According to the WSOP's official tournament report, Bari controlled much of the final-table action and entered heads-up play with a substantial chip advantage. Ho finished second for $540,020.
The bracelet victory was especially notable because Bari had previously described mixed games and cash games as important parts of his poker identity. His first bracelet instead came in one of poker's most widely played tournament formats.

Major Poker Accomplishments
As of September 2026, Bari's verified career accomplishments include:

⠀
Allen Bari's Playing Style and Poker Reputation
Bari developed a reputation during his peak tournament years for confidence and an outspoken personality at the table.
His game, however, was broader than his major no-limit hold'em results suggest.
The WSOP reported that Bari grew up playing stud and draw games and preferred mixed games to hold'em. He also expressed a preference for cash games over tournaments because of the variance involved in tournament poker.
PokerNews similarly reported that Bari was regarded as a strong East Coast cash-game player in addition to his tournament accomplishments.
That versatility is an important part of his poker résumé. His largest public results came in no-limit hold'em, but his tournament record also includes cashes in H.O.R.S.E., razz, Omaha hi-lo and seven-card stud hi-lo events.
⠀
Stepping Away From Full-Time Poker
Bari's career took a different direction after his major tournament success.
In a 2013 interview, PokerNews reported that Bari had moved poker to the "back burner" after deciding in 2012 to step away from life as a full-time poker player. He discussed pursuing culinary school and business interests outside poker.
That decision did not mark the end of all tournament appearances.
Bari recorded additional results after stepping away from full-time play, including WSOP cashes in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2019, along with a cash at the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.
Hendon Mob's current database lists his most recent recorded tournament cash as a 48th-place finish in the 2019 WSOP.com Online Knockout Bounty event.
There is not enough current authoritative information to describe Bari as permanently retired from poker. His public tournament activity has simply been far less frequent than during the most active period of his career.
⠀
Allen Bari's Place in Poker
Bari's most productive tournament years were concentrated into a relatively short period, but the results were substantial.
His 2008 breakthrough included both a WSOP Circuit ring and a $500,250 Borgata championship victory. Three years later, he added the accomplishment most closely associated with his career by winning a WSOP bracelet against an 865-entry field.
Those results helped push his recorded live earnings past $2.9 million.
Bari also represents a generation of players whose careers developed during the expansion of online poker, major televised tournaments and the rapid growth of the WSOP and WPT circuits in the late 2000s. His path from finance into professional poker and eventually into interests outside full-time tournament play reflects a career that did not follow a single conventional trajectory.
