A Breakout Run in 2024 and 2025
Higgins opened 2024 with what was then the largest cash of his career. He defeated a field of 4,704 entries in a $400 No-Limit Hold’em event at the Beau Rivage Heater Poker Tournament in Biloxi, earning $222,091 from a prize pool of more than $1.5 million.
Later that month, Higgins won his first WSOP Circuit Main Event. He captured the $1,700 Main Event at Horseshoe Tunica for $167,058, adding another major title to a rapidly growing tournament résumé.
His Circuit success continued through 2025. In May, Higgins won the $400 Mini Main at Harrah’s Cherokee for $132,204. He then produced another major result in November at Choctaw Casino Resort in Oklahoma.
Higgins won the 2025 WSOP Circuit Choctaw Main Event for $218,436. The victory gave him his second Circuit Main Event championship and, according to the WSOP, his ninth career Circuit ring.
By that point, Higgins had moved well beyond being simply a consistent Circuit grinder. He had accumulated major wins across different venues, tournament sizes and poker formats while repeatedly producing six-figure scores.

Matt Higgins Wins His First WSOP Bracelet
The defining victory of Higgins’ career came during the 2026 World Series of Poker at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
Higgins won Event #63: $1,000 Mystery Millions No-Limit Hold’em, defeating a field of 22,811 entries to claim his first WSOP bracelet and a $1 million first-place prize. The score became the largest recorded live cash of his career.
Twenty-four players returned for the final day, and Higgins eventually faced Polish professional Dominik Panka heads-up. Higgins entered the heads-up match with the chip lead and ultimately finished the tournament with pocket aces to secure the bracelet.
The victory was significant for both its scale and the career milestone it represented. Higgins had spent more than a decade recording tournament results before breaking through for a bracelet in one of the largest fields on the WSOP schedule.
It also demonstrated that his success was not limited to regional Circuit stops. After years of winning and making deep runs around the country, Higgins converted that experience into a seven-figure victory at the World Series of Poker.

Ten WSOP Circuit Rings and Three Main Event Titles
Higgins returned to the WSOP Circuit after his bracelet victory and added another major title on August 31, 2026.
He won the $1,700 WSOP Circuit Main Event at Horseshoe Tunica, topping a field of 367 entries for $110,841. The victory gave Higgins his 10th career Circuit ring and his third Circuit Main Event championship.
His three Main Event victories came at Horseshoe Tunica in January 2024, Choctaw in November 2025 and Horseshoe Tunica again in August 2026.
Reaching 10 Circuit rings places Higgins among the tour’s most accomplished ring winners. His record is particularly notable because it combines repeated success in large-field No-Limit Hold’em events with results in Pot-Limit Omaha and other tournament formats.
