Philip Laak, better known as Phil Laak, is an Irish-born American professional poker player. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and later grew up in the United States. Hendon Mob lists his nationality as United States and his residence as Los Angeles, California.
Laak attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst and earned an engineering degree before eventually turning his competitive instincts toward gambling and poker. He developed experience in games including backgammon before becoming increasingly involved in poker.

He defeated a 244-entry field in the £2,500 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em event, earning £170,802 and becoming a WSOP bracelet champion. The victory came after Laak overcame Andrew Pantling heads-up at the end of the three-day tournament.
