Shiina Okamoto: Back-to-Back WSOP Ladies Champion
POKER HALL OF FAME
Inducted 2014
Shiina Okamoto is a Japanese tournament poker player whose three-year run in the World Series of Poker Ladies Championship established her as one of the event's most accomplished modern competitors. After finishing runner-up in 2023, she won the championship in both 2024 and 2025, earning consecutive WSOP bracelets.
Her success has extended beyond the Ladies Championship. Okamoto has recorded results across the WSOP, European Poker Tour, Asian Poker Tour and other international festivals, while continuing to compete regularly through 2026.
As of September 8, 2026, The Hendon Mob's current women's all-time money list credits Okamoto with $1,428,016 in live tournament earnings. Her largest recorded live cash is the $184,094 she earned for winning the 2025 WSOP Ladies Championship. The World Series of Poker player record lists her with two bracelets and no WSOP Circuit rings.
⠀
Who Is Shiina Okamoto?
Shiina Okamoto is a poker player from Japan who has built most of her international reputation through no-limit hold'em tournaments. The Hendon Mob lists her nationality as Japanese and her residence as Tokyo, Japan.
Her recorded live tournament results date to 2021, when she cashed twice at the World Series of Poker. She began appearing more frequently at major international festivals during the following seasons, including PokerStars European Poker Tour stops and the WSOP.
By 2023, Okamoto had developed from a regular tournament casher into a player capable of making deep runs on poker's largest stages. That summer produced the result that first brought her widespread attention.
⠀
The Three-Year WSOP Ladies Championship Run
Okamoto's defining achievement is a remarkable sequence of finishes in the WSOP Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship from 2023 through 2025.
In 2023, she reached the final table and finished second for $118,768. Tamar Abraham won the tournament, leaving Okamoto one place short of her first bracelet.
She returned in 2024 and went one step further. Okamoto defeated a field of 1,245 entries in Event #71 and beat Jamie Kerstetter heads-up to win $171,732 and her first WSOP bracelet.
The following summer brought an even more unusual achievement. Okamoto again advanced through the Ladies Championship field, this time overcoming 1,368 entries. She defeated Heather Alcorn heads-up to win the 2025 title, $184,094 and her second bracelet.
The victory made Okamoto the third player in Ladies Championship history to win consecutive titles, following Susie Isaacs and Nani Dollison. Combined with her 2023 runner-up finish, Okamoto reached the final table of the same WSOP championship three consecutive years and finished first or second each time.

2024 WSOP Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship — 1st place, $171,732
2025 WSOP Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship — 1st place, $184,094

⠀
Success Beyond the WSOP Ladies Championship
Although the Ladies Championship produced her two largest scores, Okamoto's tournament record includes results across several major tours.
She recorded her first live tournament victory outside the WSOP spotlight in August 2023, winning a no-limit hold'em side event at the Asian Poker Tour stop in Incheon. The result was worth approximately $17,000.
Her international schedule continued to expand. At the 2024 PokerStars EPT Barcelona festival, Okamoto cashed in the Estrellas Main Event, Mystery Bounty and €10,300 EPT High Roller.
In August 2025, she added a PokerStars trophy by winning the €550 Women's Event at EPT Barcelona. Okamoto topped a 126-entry field and earned €15,510.
That victory came only two months after her second WSOP bracelet and reinforced that her results were not limited to one tournament or one venue.
⠀
Okamoto's 2026 Tournament Results
Okamoto remained active on the international tournament circuit throughout 2026.
One of her strongest early-season results came at WSOP Europe in Prague, where she finished 37th in the €5,300 Main Event for €40,000. She also recorded multiple cashes at EPT Monte Carlo before returning to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker.
Her 2026 Las Vegas summer included numerous WSOP cashes along with several notable finishes away from the bracelet schedule. She finished third in a $1,100 Wynn Summer Classic turbo for $17,899 and runner-up in a $1,100 ARIA Poker Classic event for $60,774.
After leaving Las Vegas, Okamoto continued competing in Asia. At the July 2026 Taiwan Millions Tournament in Taipei, she won a high roller for NT$594,000, approximately $18,350, and two days later finished third in another high roller for approximately $19,000.
Those results show that she remained an active international tournament player following her back-to-back WSOP championship seasons.

Playing Style and Poker Study
Public comments from Okamoto provide more evidence about her preparation than broad labels such as "aggressive" or "tight."
Ahead of her 2026 WSOP Ladies Championship title defense, Okamoto told PokerNews that she regularly used GTO Wizard for preflop drills and studied postflop ICM situations when she had sufficient uninterrupted study time. She also emphasized preparing mentally so that technical work could translate into tournament performance.
Okamoto has been publicly identified as a GTO Wizard ambassador since 2025 and was still described as an ambassador during the 2026 WSOP.
Her tournament record also demonstrates experience across large-field no-limit hold'em events, high rollers and international championship structures rather than a schedule limited exclusively to women's events.
⠀
Why Shiina Okamoto Matters in Poker
Okamoto's place in contemporary tournament poker is closely tied to the consistency of her WSOP Ladies Championship results.
Winning any large-field WSOP event in consecutive years is difficult because players must navigate hundreds or thousands of entries each time. Okamoto did more than successfully defend a bracelet: she reached the championship match in 2023 before winning the next two editions.
Her run also added her name to a short historical list. Susie Isaacs won consecutive Ladies Championships in 1996 and 1997, Nani Dollison repeated in 2000 and 2001, and Okamoto became the next player to accomplish the feat in 2024 and 2025.
At the same time, results in Europe, Asia and open events have broadened her tournament record. By 2026, her résumé included two bracelets, more than $1.4 million in recorded live earnings and deep finishes across several major poker tours.
