Tony “Ren” Lin: WPT Alpha8 Champion and $20M+ Tournament Pro
POKER HALL OF FAME
Inducted 2014
Tony “Ren” Lin has become one of the most visible Chinese high-stakes tournament professionals of the modern era, building a résumé that includes more than $20 million in recorded live earnings, a WPT Alpha8 championship and repeated deep runs against elite fields around the world.
Lin is still chasing his first World Series of Poker bracelet, but that absence has not kept him from compiling a substantial WSOP record. He has reached numerous final tables and come close to a bracelet several times while also winning major events on the World Poker Tour, PokerGO Tour and Asian Poker Tour circuits.
As of September 8, 2026, The Hendon Mob lists Lin with $20,630,768 in live tournament earnings and a career-best cash of $1,045,781. The WSOP lists him with zero bracelets and zero Circuit rings. His results remained current deep into 2026, including a productive summer in Las Vegas and a Player of the Series performance in Jeju, South Korea.
⠀
Who Is Tony “Ren” Lin?
Tony “Ren” Lin is a Chinese professional poker player who resides in New York. Poker databases and tournament organizations variously list him as Ren Lin, Tony Lin and Tony Ren Lin.
PokerNews traces his live tournament career to low-stakes events in Las Vegas beginning in 2015. His results accelerated significantly in the early 2020s as he moved into larger buy-ins and became a regular in high-roller tournaments.
Lin primarily competes in no-limit hold'em, although his tournament résumé also includes results in mixed formats and other poker variants. His frequent appearances in high-buy-in events across the United States, Europe and Asia have made him a familiar presence on major live tournament circuits.

Tony Lin's Rise in High-Stakes Tournament Poker
Lin's breakthrough at the World Series of Poker came during the 2021 series.
He cashed extensively during that year's WSOP and made two particularly important deep runs. Lin finished third in a $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em event for $186,803 before reaching heads-up play in the $50,000 High Roller.
The high roller produced one of the defining scores of his early career. Lin finished runner-up to Mikita Badziakouski and collected $903,610.
Those results helped establish him as more than a volume tournament player. He increasingly began appearing in PokerGO Tour high rollers, major international series and events carrying five-figure buy-ins.
Another major score followed in January 2023, when Lin finished second to Ognyan Dimov in a $25,000 high roller at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for $619,200.
By that point, Lin had become a regular against many of poker's most accomplished tournament professionals.

Tony Lin Wins the 2023 WPT Alpha8
Lin recorded the largest live tournament cash of his career in December 2023 at Wynn Las Vegas.
The $50,000 WPT Alpha8 attracted 69 entries and produced a final table featuring several established high-stakes players. Lin reached heads-up play against Jason Koon and defeated him to win the tournament.
The victory paid Lin $1,045,781, giving him his first seven-figure live tournament score.
The World Poker Tour records the result as an Alpha8 victory rather than a WPT Main Tour championship. That distinction is important when evaluating Lin's record: he has won a major WPT-branded high roller but, as of September 2026, has not won a WPT Main Tour title.
The championship also connected one of Lin's most important career achievements with Wynn Las Vegas, a venue that regularly hosts major tournament poker. Angry Aces Poker's Wynn Las Vegas Poker Room Guide provides additional information about the property's poker room.
⠀
Texas Poker Open Main Event Victory
Lin added another major championship in April 2024 when he won the inaugural $3,300 Texas Poker Open Main Event at Champions Club Texas.
The tournament drew 735 entries and generated a prize pool of more than $2.2 million. Lin defeated Daniel Moran heads-up and earned $400,000.
PokerGO Tour reported that the victory represented Lin's third career PGT title at the time and his 38th recorded PGT cash.
The Texas Poker Open result demonstrated another part of Lin's tournament range. Although much of his public profile comes from five-figure and six-figure high rollers, he has also won large-field main events requiring several days of tournament play.
⠀
How Many WSOP Bracelets Does Tony Lin Have?
Tony “Ren” Lin has not won a World Series of Poker bracelet as of September 8, 2026.
The official WSOP player database lists him with zero bracelets and zero WSOP Circuit rings.
That statistic stands out because Lin has repeatedly reached the late stages of bracelet events.
His close calls have included:
Runner-up in the 2021 $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller for $903,610
Third place in the 2024 $10,000 Razz Championship for $130,447
Runner-up in the 2024 WSOP Paradise $5,000 Closer No-Limit Hold'em Bounty Turbo for $110,000
Third place in a 2025 $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em bracelet event for $406,016
Runner-up in the 2026 WSOP Europe €20,800 Super High Roller for €700,000
Fourth place in the opening $5,000 8-Handed No-Limit Hold'em event at the 2026 WSOP for $166,448
The frequency of those deep runs makes the bracelet chase a notable part of Lin's tournament record. Despite accumulating millions of dollars in WSOP-branded earnings and reaching multiple final tables, he had yet to convert one into a bracelet through the 2026 summer series.

Tony Lin's 2026 Tournament Results
Lin remained highly active throughout 2026.
His year included significant results in Asia, Europe and Las Vegas. At the APT Jeju Classic, Lin won a record-setting APT Super High Roller after overcoming a short stack late in the tournament. He defeated Ryuta Nakai heads-up and earned KRW 396,317,500, approximately $275,000 at the time.
Lin also produced one of his largest 2026 scores at the World Series of Poker Europe in Prague. He finished second in the €20,800 Super High Roller for €700,000, recorded by Hendon Mob at approximately $817,690.
His summer WSOP campaign in Las Vegas included a fourth-place finish in the $5,000 8-Handed No-Limit Hold'em event for $166,448 along with cashes in the Main Event, high rollers, bounty tournaments and the $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship.
Lin then returned to Jeju for the King Poker Cup in the summer.
PokerNews reported in August 2026 that he recorded seven cashes during the festival and captured Player of the Series honors. His run included back-to-back victories in NLH/PLO Mix events.
Those results helped push his Hendon Mob earnings beyond the $20 million mark.
⠀
Tony Lin's Live Tournament Earnings
As of September 8, 2026, The Hendon Mob lists Tony “Ren” Lin with $20,630,768 in career live tournament earnings.
Hendon Mob also lists:
Career live earnings: $20,630,768
Largest recorded live cash: $1,045,781
Nationality: China
Residence: New York, United States
More than 300 recorded live tournament results
Tournament earnings are cumulative statistics and can change whenever a player records another qualifying result. They should therefore be treated as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent career total.
Lin's $1,045,781 WPT Alpha8 victory remains his largest recorded individual live cash.
⠀
Playing Style and Table Presence
Lin is particularly recognizable for an active table presence that contrasts with the quieter demeanor of many high-stakes professionals.
Poker coverage has frequently documented his willingness to talk at the table and engage with opponents during major events. His tournament schedule also reflects a willingness to compete across a wide range of field sizes and buy-ins rather than specializing exclusively in one type of event.
Results provide clearer evidence than subjective labels when evaluating his poker approach. Lin has reached final tables in large-field no-limit hold'em tournaments, elite high rollers, razz and mixed-format events, demonstrating experience across several tournament environments.
⠀
The 2025 Real-Time Assistance Violation
An important part of Lin's recent career occurred away from his own tournament results.
In October 2025, Lin admitted providing real-time strategic advice to a friend who was playing the final table of a GGMillion$ event on GGPoker. Real-time outside assistance during active online play violated the platform's poker integrity rules.
Lin was subsequently disqualified before Day 2 of the WSOP Super Circuit Cyprus Main Event. GGPoker later announced sanctions connected to the incident, and Lin was indefinitely suspended from GGPoker, WSOP and associated partner platforms.
Lin publicly apologized and acknowledged that providing the advice was wrong. He said he had no financial interest in the player's tournament entry and accepted responsibility for his role in the incident. PokerNews reported that Lin also contributed money toward restoring funds that were redistributed after the affected GGMillion$ result.
The suspension did not become permanent. Lin returned to WSOP competition at WSOP Paradise in December 2025, approximately seven weeks after the original sanction, and continued playing WSOP events throughout 2026.
In January 2026, WPT Global announced Lin as an ambassador. PokerNews continues to list him as representing WPT Global as of September 2026.
The episode remains part of Lin's public poker record and is relevant to any complete account of his career, particularly because it involved tournament-integrity rules and temporarily affected his eligibility to compete on major platforms.
⠀
Why Tony Lin Matters in Modern Tournament Poker
Lin's significance comes primarily from the scale and breadth of his tournament activity.
He has accumulated more than $20 million in live cashes, won against elite competition in the WPT Alpha8, captured a large-field PokerGO Tour main event and recorded major victories and final tables across North America, Europe and Asia.
His record also illustrates how modern tournament professionals can build careers across overlapping global circuits rather than relying on a single tour. Lin regularly appears in WSOP events, PokerGO Tour competition, Asian Poker Tour festivals and independent high-roller series.
At the same time, his missing WSOP bracelet remains one of the most conspicuous gaps in an otherwise extensive tournament résumé.
⠀
Tony Lin's Current Poker Status
Tony “Ren” Lin remains an active high-stakes tournament player as of September 2026.
His 2026 results include major final tables at WSOP Europe and the summer WSOP, an APT Super High Roller victory and a Player of the Series performance at the King Poker Cup in Jeju.
The Hendon Mob places him among the leading Chinese players by recorded live earnings, while his continued schedule shows regular participation in major international tournaments.
With more than $20.6 million in recorded live cashes but no WSOP bracelet, future bracelet events remain an obvious career milestone to watch. Any assessment beyond that would be speculative; his recent results establish that he continues to compete actively at the highest levels of live tournament poker.
