2027 Tournament Schedule

The six-day championship is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 11, and conclude Sunday, May 16, 2027.

The MSPT has not yet published the complete 2027 FireKeepers event schedule.

The final schedule will establish which preliminary tournaments accompany the Main Event, their buy-ins and starting times, and the exact Main Event starting flights.

Players should consult the official MSPT tournament calendar for the event-specific schedule when it becomes available.

⠀

Preliminary Events

Previous MSPT championship series at FireKeepers have featured additional tournaments alongside the Main Event.

The specific preliminary events for May 2027 have not yet been confirmed.

Players interested in side events should review the official 2027 schedule before selecting their travel dates. The series dates alone do not establish when individual events will take place.

⠀

$1 Million Guaranteed Main Event

The Main Event is the centerpiece of the 2027 Michigan Poker State Championship.

MSPT has confirmed a $1 million guarantee, establishing a substantial prize-pool target for the FireKeepers stop.

The guarantee represents the advertised minimum prize pool for the Main Event, subject to the organizer's published tournament terms.

⠀

Main Event Buy-In and Starting Flights

The official 2027 Main Event buy-in and flight schedule have not yet been released.

Previous Michigan Poker State Championships have used multiple starting flights, but players should not assume that the same format or entry price will apply in 2027.

The event-specific schedule will determine the entry fee, starting-flight dates, and progression into later tournament days.

⠀

Starting Stacks and Blind Levels

Starting stacks and blind levels are important considerations when choosing a tournament.

A larger starting stack relative to the initial blinds generally provides more room for postflop decisions, while shorter levels increase the pace at which effective stacks become shallow.

The 2027 championship's starting chips, blind-level durations, and detailed tournament structure have not yet been confirmed.

Players should read the official structure sheet before entering rather than relying on previous editions.

⠀

Late Registration and Re-Entry Rules

The 2027 Main Event's late-registration deadline and re-entry provisions have not yet been published.

These rules matter for players considering later starting flights or planning around an initial elimination.

The official structure sheet should establish:

• Registration closing levels

• Re-entry eligibility and deadlines

• Starting-stack rules

• Breaks and tournament procedures

• Advancement and payout conditions

Players should verify the applicable rules before entering.

⠀

Satellites and Main Event Qualification

Satellite tournaments can provide an alternative way to secure entry into a larger buy-in championship.

FireKeepers has offered milestone satellites for previous MSPT events, allowing players to pursue qualifying seats through lower-priced tournaments.

The specific satellite schedule, prices, and seat-award structure for the May 2027 Michigan Poker State Championship have not yet been confirmed.

Players interested in qualification should monitor the official FireKeepers poker room page and the MSPT calendar.

When satellites are announced, players should confirm whether earned seats are transferable, whether they apply to particular flights, and what conditions govern their use.

⠀

Preparing for the 2027 Michigan Poker State Championship

Tournament preparation begins with understanding the structure rather than focusing only on the prize-pool guarantee.

Although the complete 2027 structure has not been released, players can review several fundamental concepts before attending.

⠀

Understanding Tournament Position

Table position affects hand selection, betting decisions, and how much information a player has before acting.

Players can review Poker Position Explained for a foundation in early, middle, and late-position play.

⠀

Planning Preflop Decisions

Opening ranges, effective stack sizes, and opponent tendencies become increasingly important as a tournament develops.

The Preflop Poker Strategy for Beginners guide covers the fundamentals of entering pots, raising, calling, and responding to aggression.

⠀

Understanding Blinds and Antes

The relationship between a player's stack and the current blinds determines how much flexibility remains during a tournament.

As blinds rise, players must reassess their effective stack sizes and adjust their strategies accordingly.

For a refresher, see Blinds, Antes & the Dealer Button Explained.

⠀

Planning Around the Official Schedule

Once the 2027 schedule is published, players should identify the most appropriate Main Event flight or preliminary tournament.

Important considerations include the tournament start time, late-registration deadline, re-entry policy, and the number of days potentially required to complete an event.

Players participating in satellites should also account for the possibility of advancing into an event scheduled later in the series.

⠀

Michigan Poker State Championship History

The Michigan Poker State Championship has become a recurring fixture on the MSPT calendar at FireKeepers.

The May 2026 edition demonstrated the event's ability to attract a substantial field. Its $1,110 Main Event generated 2,551 entries and a prize pool of $2,472,970, well above the original $1 million guarantee.

Sai Mudduluru won the 2026 championship for $357,936.

Those figures are historical results from the completed 2026 tournament, not projections for 2027.

The 2027 event carries its own confirmed $1 million guarantee, with actual participation and final payouts to be determined after play begins.
