Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago

East Chicago, IN

Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago is a waterfront casino hotel in East Chicago, Indiana, overlooking Lake Michigan and serving the northwest Indiana and greater Chicagoland casino market. The property combines a 288-room hotel with an attached casino, sportsbook, dining options, and event space, making it a practical stay for poker players who want to be on site for Ameristar East Chicago poker events rather than commute from Chicago or the surrounding suburbs.

Rooms include deluxe king, double queen, and accessible guest-room options, with the hotel positioned directly at the casino complex. The casino features multiple levels of gaming, slots, table games, a baccarat room, and a sportsbook, while dining options include Bugatti’s Steak and Pasta, Burger Brothers, Red Lotus Asian Kitchen, Club 38, and The Social Lounge.

For poker travelers, the main advantage is convenience. Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago is the host property for Ameristar East Chicago poker activity and has also served as the venue for major regional tournament stops, including MSPT events. It is not a Las Vegas-style multi-room walking hub; its strongest value is for players whose poker trip is centered on Ameristar East Chicago itself.

Why Players Like This Hotel

Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago is the most convenient lodging option for players focused on Ameristar East Chicago because the hotel, casino, dining, and poker-event areas are on the same property. For early tournament starts, this removes the need to drive in from Chicago, nearby suburbs, or another Indiana hotel before cards go in the air. For late-night cash sessions or long tournament days, staying on property also avoids a post-session commute.

The key relationship is Ameristar East Chicago Poker Room Guide. Current third-party poker listings indicate the regular Ameristar East Chicago poker room has closed, while Ameristar may still host MSPT events in the ballroom, so players should verify the current poker schedule before booking a stay specifically for live poker. The hotel remains highly practical when Ameristar East Chicago is hosting a tournament series or special poker event.

This hotel is not a strong multi-room walking base. Other Chicagoland-area poker rooms, including rooms in Illinois or farther Indiana markets, generally require driving or rideshare and should not be treated as walkable poker destinations from Ameristar. For players splitting time between Ameristar East Chicago and other regional poker rooms, a car is recommended.

Food access is a plus because the property has multiple on-site dining options, including casual and sit-down choices. That matters during multi-day tournament stops when players may have short dinner breaks or late finishes. Parking is another practical advantage, with free parking listed for the poker venue and casino-hotel property, though players should still confirm current parking and valet availability before arrival.

The main drawback is flexibility. Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago is excellent for a trip centered on Ameristar, but less useful for players who want to sample several poker rooms without driving. It works best for tournament travelers, regional grinders, and players who value staying on property over being near downtown Chicago.
