Ellis Island Hotel Casino & Brewery

palazzo where to stay.jpeg

Las Vegas, NV

Ellis Island Hotel Casino & Brewery is an off-Strip Las Vegas hotel and casino on Koval Lane, positioned just east of the central Strip near Flamingo Road and the Horseshoe/Paris area. The property is best known as a value-oriented casino hotel with renovated rooms and suites, on-site gaming, a brewery, casual dining, karaoke, and easy access to several major Strip destinations without paying for a luxury-resort setting.

The hotel works especially well for poker travelers who want to stay close to center-Strip poker without being directly inside a megaresort. Horseshoe Las Vegas is the most practical nearby poker destination on foot, while Bellagio, ARIA, and MGM Grand are also realistic depending on walking tolerance, route, weather, and time of day. The property can also serve Venetian and Wynn trips by short rideshare, but those are not primary walkable relationships for most players.

Ellis Island is a practical choice for players who prioritize location, food access, and value over high-end resort amenities. Rooms are not positioned as luxury accommodations, but the hotel’s central location, on-site dining, casino amenities, and proximity to multiple active poker rooms make it useful for multi-day Las Vegas poker trips.

Why Players Like This Hotel

Ellis Island Hotel Casino & Brewery is most practical for players using Horseshoe Las Vegas, with the Hall of Fame Poker Room reachable by a short walk from the hotel area toward Flamingo Road and the Horseshoe/Paris side of the Strip. For players with early tournament starts at Horseshoe or late cash-game sessions there, Ellis Island offers a strong value-location combination because the walk is short enough to be realistic before or after play.

Bellagio is also a workable poker destination from Ellis Island, especially for players comfortable with a 15–20 minute walk across the center-Strip area. That makes the hotel useful for players who want access to Bellagio cash games without paying Bellagio-area hotel rates. The walk can feel less convenient in extreme heat, with luggage, or late at night, so rideshare may be the better option after long sessions.

ARIA is a practical but slightly longer option. Most players should think of ARIA as a long walk or short rideshare from Ellis Island rather than a seamless hotel-to-poker-room connection. The hotel still works for ARIA-focused players who are choosing Ellis Island for value, but it is less convenient than staying directly at ARIA, Vdara, Park MGM, or another CityCenter-area hotel.

MGM Grand is reachable by a short drive or a longer walk, depending on route and comfort level. Players may find it practical for cash-game sessions or tournament stops if they are comfortable walking along Koval/Harmon-area routes, but rideshare is usually the cleaner choice late at night or during hot weather.

The Venetian and Wynn/Encore are farther north and should not be treated as primary walkable poker rooms from Ellis Island for most guests. However, both can still be reasonable short rideshare destinations, especially for players booking Ellis Island as a lower-cost base while splitting time among multiple major Las Vegas poker rooms.

The biggest advantages for poker players are value, centrality, on-site casual food, and proximity to Horseshoe. The main drawbacks are that Ellis Island is off the Strip, does not have the full luxury-resort experience of nearby megaresorts, and requires more walking or transportation planning for rooms beyond Horseshoe and Bellagio. For multi-day poker trips, it is best suited to players who want a budget-conscious base near the center Strip and are comfortable mixing walking with rideshare.
