New York-New York Hotel & Casino

Las Vegas, NV
New York-New York Hotel & Casino is a four-star Las Vegas Strip resort at Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, placing guests on the south-central Strip near MGM Grand, Park MGM, T-Mobile Arena and the CityCenter area. The New York-themed property combines recently remodeled Soho rooms and a broad range of suites with an 84,000-square-foot casino, sportsbook, outdoor pool area, fitness center, entertainment and a large collection of casual restaurants, bars and sit-down dining.
Standard Soho rooms start at about 350 square feet, while larger room categories and suites provide additional space for longer stays. Dining ranges from quick options and sports-bar food to Nine Fine Irishmen and Gallagher's Steakhouse, with additional choices around The Park immediately outside the resort.
For poker travelers, the location is more useful than the hotel’s own gaming floor might suggest. New York-New York does not currently have a poker room, but MGM Grand and ARIA are both realistically walkable, while Bellagio is farther north but still reachable on foot for players comfortable with a longer Strip walk. That makes the property a practical south-Strip base for players who expect to divide their trip among several poker rooms rather than remain at one casino.

Why Players Like This Hotel
New York-New York is one of the more practical south-Strip hotel bases for poker players who want access to multiple rooms without paying the typical rates of the Strip’s luxury poker resorts.
The closest major option is MGM Grand Poker Room, located across the Las Vegas Boulevard/Tropicana intersection. A practical walk is about 5–10 minutes, making MGM Grand especially convenient for early tournament starts or players returning after a late cash session. MGM Grand currently operates its poker room 24 hours a day.
ARIA Poker is also a strong fit from New York-New York. Depending on the route through the Park MGM and CityCenter area, players should generally allow roughly 7–10 minutes on foot. ARIA has a large dedicated poker room and is close enough that staying at New York-New York can make sense for someone who wants ARIA access without necessarily booking an ARIA room.
Bellagio Poker Room is farther north. Walking estimates vary with the exact route and where inside each large resort the trip begins, but players should generally think in terms of roughly 20 minutes or somewhat longer door to poker room. That remains workable in good weather, although rideshare or taxi becomes more attractive after a very late session, during extreme summer heat or when carrying bags.
This combination makes New York-New York particularly useful for players splitting time between MGM Grand and ARIA, with Bellagio available as a secondary option. It is less convenient as a base specifically for The Venetian or Wynn poker rooms; those resorts are far enough north that transportation is normally the practical choice rather than walking.
Food access is a strength for multi-day poker trips. New York-New York has quick-service options, restaurants, bars and in-room dining, while The Park and neighboring MGM Resorts add more choices within a short walk. That makes it relatively easy to eat before an early event or find food between sessions without traveling far.
Drivers should budget for paid parking. MGM Resorts currently charges registered New York-New York hotel guests for self-parking, with valet also available. Hotel guests receive MGM’s multi-property parking privileges under the current program, which can be useful when driving to another MGM Resorts property, subject to the program’s terms and availability.
The main drawbacks are that New York-New York has no poker room of its own and that large Strip resorts can add meaningful indoor walking time beyond simple map distances. Players primarily targeting Wynn or The Venetian should usually stay farther north. For MGM Grand, ARIA and mixed south/central Strip poker trips, however, New York-New York offers a useful balance of location, dining access and generally more moderate pricing than many luxury poker resorts.
