OYO Hotel & Casino Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV
OYO Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is a value-oriented casino hotel at 115 East Tropicana Avenue, just east of the Las Vegas Strip and directly across the Tropicana corridor from MGM Grand. The location puts guests near the south end of the Strip while avoiding the scale and typically higher room rates of many large Strip resorts.
The property offers standard rooms, Strip- and pool-view accommodations, and several suite categories. Hotel amenities include two outdoor pools, a 24-hour fitness center, a casino and sportsbook, free in-room Wi-Fi, and on-site dining and quick-service options including Steak ’n Shake. The property also has convenience retail for snacks, drinks and basic travel needs.
For poker travelers, OYO's strongest advantage is its proximity to MGM Grand, which operates a 24-hour poker room. The nearby MGM Grand Monorail station also provides an alternative to driving for trips farther north on the Strip. Mandalay Bay, ARIA, Horseshoe Las Vegas and Bellagio are additional active poker destinations that can be reached by short transportation trips, although they are not as convenient on foot as MGM Grand.

Why Players Like This Hotel
OYO Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is most useful to poker players targeting MGM Grand. The MGM Grand property is roughly 0.2 miles away, and reaching the poker room is generally a short walk once the street crossing and interior casino route are included. MGM Grand currently operates its poker room 24 hours a day, making OYO particularly practical for early tournament starts and late cash-game sessions because players do not need to depend on a rideshare for the return trip.
Mandalay Bay is another realistic south-Strip poker option, but it should be treated as a transportation destination rather than a routine walk. The property is roughly 1.4 walking miles from OYO, with published routing estimates around 26 minutes on foot. A taxi, rideshare or Strip transit connection is considerably more practical, especially after a long session. Mandalay Bay currently operates live poker Wednesday through Monday and is closed on Tuesdays.
Horseshoe Las Vegas is farther north but remains reasonably accessible for tournament players because the MGM Grand Monorail station is only about a seven-minute walk from OYO. That can make OYO a lower-cost lodging base for players spending occasional days at Horseshoe, including major tournament periods, although it is less convenient than staying at a center-Strip hotel. ARIA and Bellagio also have active poker rooms, but regular players at those properties should generally plan on rideshare or other transportation rather than choosing OYO specifically for walkability.
OYO works best for players whose main room is MGM Grand or for poker travelers willing to trade immediate access to several major rooms for a lower-cost south-Strip location. It can also work for a multi-room trip involving MGM Grand plus occasional sessions at Mandalay Bay, Horseshoe, ARIA or Bellagio, but MGM Grand is clearly the strongest poker-location advantage.
Food access is useful for long playing days because OYO has casual dining and convenience options on property, while MGM Grand adds a much broader group of restaurants a short walk away. OYO charges hotel guests for self-parking; its published parking page lists $19 per night Sunday through Thursday and $21 per night Friday and Saturday, before applicable tax, with unlimited in-and-out privileges.
The main value consideration is the total stay cost rather than the advertised room rate alone. OYO often competes at the budget end of the Las Vegas hotel market, but the nightly resort fee and paid parking can materially increase the final price. Players comparing OYO with MGM Grand or another Strip property should compare the all-in total, especially for multi-day tournament trips. The hotel's official website also currently warns that elevator enhancements may cause intermittent delays, which may matter to players leaving for fixed tournament start times.
