⠀

2027 MSPT Diamond Poker Championship Schedule

The tournament series runs Tuesday, February 2, through Sunday, February 7, 2027.

The detailed event-by-event schedule has not yet been verified. The official MSPT calendar confirms the championship dates and $1 million guarantee, but individual tournament starting times, buy-ins and structures still require confirmation.

Players planning to attend should review the official MSPT tournament schedule for updates and the complete schedule when published.

The schedule is expected to clarify which days feature Main Event starting flights, when surviving players return, and whether additional tournaments or satellites are available.

Those details should not be assumed from the previous year's championship.

⠀

MSPT Diamond Poker Championship Main Event

The Diamond Poker Championship is the featured tournament of the MSPT's Scottsdale stop.

The inaugural championship in 2026 featured a $1,100 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event with a $1,000,000 guarantee. The tournament attracted a substantial field and established the event as a notable addition to the MSPT calendar.

For 2027, the tour has advertised another $1 million guarantee for the Diamond Poker Championship stop.

The exact Main Event buy-in and structure have not yet been verified.

⠀

Main Event Buy-In and Guarantee

The 2026 Main Event carried a $1,100 buy-in and $1 million guarantee.

The upcoming championship's advertised guarantee is $1,000,000, but the 2027 buy-in requires confirmation from the official tournament schedule.

Players should check the published buy-in and registration fees before establishing their tournament budgets.

⠀

Starting Stacks and Blind Levels

The inaugural 2026 Main Event used:

• Starting Stack: 30,000 tournament chips

• Blind Levels: 40 minutes

• Format: No-Limit Hold'em

• Starting Flights: Three

• Re-Entry: Unlimited during the designated registration period

These details describe the 2026 championship and are not confirmed rules for the 2027 edition.

Players should review the 2027 structure sheet once available to confirm starting stacks, blind levels, breaks, antes and the number of levels scheduled for each starting flight.

⠀

Late Registration and Re-Entry

The 2026 championship allowed unlimited re-entry until the start of Level 13.

That registration rule should not be assumed for 2027.

The official 2027 tournament structure will determine when registration closes, whether re-entry is permitted, and how many starting flights players may enter.

These details are especially important for players planning to enter more than once or arrive after the opening level.

⠀

Satellites and Supporting Tournaments

The inaugural Diamond Poker Championship featured several supporting tournaments and satellite opportunities alongside its Main Event.

The 2026 schedule included:

• $140 milestone satellites awarding Main Event entries

• $800 No-Limit Hold'em Tag Team

• $300 Pot-Limit Omaha

• $300 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo

• $300 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack

These were part of the 2026 schedule. The 2027 satellite lineup, side-event buy-ins and starting times have not yet been verified.

Players interested in winning a Main Event seat through a satellite should consult the official event schedule for qualifying formats, entry fees and seat-award rules.

A Look Back at the 2026 Diamond Poker Championship

The MSPT debuted the Diamond Poker Championship at Talking Stick Resort in January 2026.

The inaugural series ran January 24 through February 1, with the $1,100 Main Event beginning January 29.

The Main Event drew 3,220 entries across three starting flights and generated a $3,121,900 prize pool, more than tripling its advertised $1 million guarantee.

At the time, the turnout established an MSPT record for an event held outside Las Vegas.

June "Oh Geez" Kim captured the inaugural title, earning $397,950 after a heads-up deal with Carlton Taylor.

Taylor finished runner-up for $345,649, while Zilong Zhang placed third for $185,000.

The result gave Kim his first MSPT Major championship and the largest tournament payday of his career at that point.

The strong turnout provides context for the championship's return in 2027, although the previous year's field size does not guarantee similar participation or prize money in the upcoming event.

⠀

Preparing for the MSPT Diamond Poker Championship

The Diamond Poker Championship is a large-field tournament stop that can attract a mixture of experienced tournament professionals, regional players and recreational competitors.

A little preparation can make the experience easier, particularly for players unfamiliar with MSPT tournament structures.

⠀

Review the Official Structure Before Playing

Blind levels, starting stacks and antes influence tournament decisions from the opening hand.

Understanding the rate at which blinds increase helps players assess their effective stack sizes and adjust their strategies throughout the event.

For additional background, read Blinds, Antes and the Dealer Button Explained.

⠀

Plan Your Tournament Budget

Players should establish their tournament budgets before registering.

The budget should account for the confirmed entry fee, any permitted re-entries and the possibility of entering satellite tournaments.

The advertised $1 million guarantee applies to the championship's prize pool rather than any individual player's payout.

Tournament participation should remain within a player's financial limits.

⠀

Pay Attention to Table Position

Tournament strategy changes as stacks become shorter and the blinds increase.

Position remains important when selecting hands, identifying opportunities and deciding how to approach opponents with different stack sizes.

Players who want a refresher can review Poker Position Explained.

⠀

Allow Time for Long Tournament Sessions

A multi-day championship can involve lengthy sessions, particularly for players who advance deep into the Main Event.

Players should review the official daily schedule, plan appropriate breaks and allow enough time between tournament commitments.

The number of playing hours and scheduled breaks will depend on the final 2027 structure.

⠀

Following the 2027 MSPT Diamond Poker Championship

The 2027 Diamond Poker Championship returns to Talking Stick Resort February 2–7 with a $1,000,000 advertised guarantee.

The event follows an inaugural championship that attracted 3,220 Main Event entries and produced a prize pool exceeding $3.1 million.

For prospective players, the next important development is the release of the detailed 2027 tournament schedule and Main Event structure.

Players should monitor the official MSPT website for confirmed tournament information, registration details and event coverage as the championship approaches.
