Jay Hoebe won the €1,500 WSOP Circuit Madrid Main Event at Casino Gran Vía on Sunday, November 1, earning €207,000 and a World Series of Poker Circuit ring. The Dutch player topped 918 entries in the four-flight event.

The tournament generated a €1,164,942 prize pool and paid 140 places. Hoebe’s victory completed the headline event at the first WSOP Circuit stop in Madrid.

Hoebe beats Nacho Barbero heads-up

Nacho Barbero finished second for €130,000. The final hand began with Barbero holding king-two against Hoebe’s queen-ten. Barbero turned three kings, but the river gave Hoebe queens full of kings to decide the title.

Hoebe entered the event with previous recorded cashes in European tournaments, including WPT Prime stops in Sanremo and Amsterdam. The Madrid result became the largest verified live payout in his public record at the time of publication.

Madrid Main Event draws 918 entries

The Main Event began with four starting flights from October 28 through October 30 before the remaining field played toward Sunday’s winner. The official WSOP Circuit Madrid schedule listed the €1,500 buy-in as Event #7 of the festival.

The top four finishers each earned at least €63,000. Barbero received €130,000 for second, while third and fourth paid €90,000 and €63,000, according to the final tournament recap.

WSOP Circuit Madrid continues through November 2

The Casino Gran Vía festival opened October 23 and runs through November 2. The remaining schedule after the Main Event includes the Superstack, additional Colossus play and the closing Bigstack tournament.

Hoebe’s €207,000 award is a gross tournament payout. It does not represent profit after buy-ins, travel or other expenses.
