Ivelin Kolev Wins WPT Prime Cyprus for $171,600
Ivelin Kolev won the 2026 WPT Prime Cyprus Championship on October 19, overcoming a field of 953 entries at Chamada Prestige Hotel & Spa for a prize valued at $171,600.

The award includes a $10,400 entry to the season-ending WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas, according to the tour’s official result. That seat is part of the announced total, not an extra $10,400 on top.
Said Tahar finished second for $100,000 in the $1,100 no-limit hold’em tournament, which ran October 15–19.
From final-table challenger to heads-up leader
Tahar had led the final eight with 12,000,000 chips, while Kolev began that stage with 4,525,000. The official final-table report shows the eventual champion started well behind the leader.
By heads-up play, the balance had reversed: Kolev held 32,950,000 against Tahar’s 5,175,000. Tahar found a double-up during the duel, but Kolev closed the tournament on Hand 111.
On the deciding river, Kolev’s six-four made a seven-high straight. Tahar called with queens and threes, giving the champion the final pot and leaving the runner-up with the second-place award.
A Prime title and a championship opportunity
The result is a WPT Prime championship, distinct from a Main Tour title. It also brings a seat in the tour’s season-ending championship as a concrete part of Kolev’s prize.
Before the Cyprus win, CardPlayer’s record of Kolev’s results included multiple cashes at the 2026 WSOP International Circuit stop in Malta. Tahar’s recorded 2026 results included 43rd place for $40,000 in the WSOP Monster Stack and a separate August WPT Cyprus Championship cash.
